The vaccine helps your dog to generate protective antibodies against rattlesnake venom. These protective antibodies start neutralizing venom immediately. This means that vaccinated dogs experience less pain and have a reduced risk of permanent injury from rattlesnake bite! Rattlesnake bites are still an emergency and your dog should be seen immediately, even if he or she is vaccinated but we have had dogs that have been vaccinated and have been bit and they had much less severe reactions to the bites.
